“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth forever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.” Psalm 138:8
In the NLT this verse reads: “the Lord will work out His plans for my life.”
In this Psalm David is pouring out his whole heart in praise to God for His lovingkindness, for His truth, and for His Word. He remembers the many times that God heard him when he cried out, and gave him the strength that he needed. he praised God because He did not just show respect to the great, but extended His mercy to all men.
He had confidence that the Lord would be with him, no matter what trouble he faced or what enemies were against him. He had trust because he knew that the Lord was in complete control, had a perfect plan for his life, and would work all things for his good.
We, too, can rest assured in the Lord, knowing that He is in control and is working all things for our good. We remember all the times He has met us in the past, and know that He will never leave us nor forsake us. His plan is perfect, and He will direct our every step, if we just trust completely in Him.
Prayer: Lord, we commit everything to you, work out your perfect plan for our lives.
