The Old Year Ends

habits“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13 KJV

Today we say goodbye to 2016.  It seems like the year has flown by and as we look back on it, we probably have good memories but also some regrets.  We may have had some failures, and some victories.

Regardless of what the year held for us, we cannot go back and change anything about it.  We cannot take back any careless words we have spoken, or recover the wasted moments.  We can only learn from what we have experienced and resolve to do some things differently in the year ahead.

It is time to put the past behind, and reach towards the goal set before us, striving to draw closer to the Lord and to be a blessing to those around us.

Prayer:  Lord, I cannot change the things this year has brought, but I ask you to help me to draw closer to you in the coming year.
