“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27, KJV
At Christmas time we often sing about the message that the angels gave to the shepherds on the hillsides, “Peace on earth, good will to men.” Our world is far from peaceful today, and as we sing these words we pray and ask God to bring peace.
Before Jesus was crucified, He gave His disciples the message in our scripture for today. The world may not be at peace, but those of us who know Jesus as our Saviour and Lord, have peace in our hearts not only at Christmas but all year long. The love and joy He has given should overflow to those around us. Christmas may be over for another year, but may His peace reign in our hearts, and help to bring peace to everyone we meet.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for the peace you bring, help us to spread peace to our world every day of the year.
