Exceeding Great Joy

“When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.  When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.”  (Matthew 2:9-10 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)

The star went before these wise men and they followed until they stood over the young child.  Where are you headed today?  I hope your destination is Jesus.

The birth of Jesus was an event the wise men didn’t want to miss.  It took effort on their part to find Him.  God will guide all who are disposed to find the Saviour.  He will direct us in the way to the Redeemer.

When they saw the star the scripture says, “they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.”  It is the same for us.  Until we find the Prince of peace we are just wandering.  Our hearts overflow with joy when the very God of glory is found.  I want to follow His directions so that I might have exceeding great joy.

We live in a gloomy world until we find Jesus and all is changed.

The old song writer wrote, “If you want joy, real joy, wonderful joy, let Jesus come into your heart.”  I might add, if you want  “Exceeding GREAT JOY”, let Jesus come into your heart!

Prayer:  Oh, the joy that floods my soul every time I bow before You, Lord.  Thank You for bringing exceeding great joy into my world!
