“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.” Lamentations 3:22
The Bible reading this month has been in the book of Ezekiel. It is hard reading of God’s proclamations of judgement against the wicked nations. He used many nations to punish Israel for her disobedience and rebellion against Him, then in turn, he sent judgment upon those nations. He was compassionate and merciful and gave them many warnings before He finally sent His judgment.
As we look at our world today and see how far it has drifted away from the principles on which it was founded, we wonder how much longer the Lord will allow things to go on as they are. Most of us thought when the year 2000 rolled around, that the Lord would return for His church very soon. But more years have gone by and the world seems to be getting worse.
We know that Jesus is coming back to take His people out of this world, and then judgment will be poured out on those who have not accepted Him. But in His mercy He has delayed His coming. We are hearing reports of great revivals in many areas, and more and more people finding Him as their Saviour, and we rejoice.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, we are so thankful that your mercy and your compassion was extended to us. Help us to be ready for your coming and to do our part to see that others are ready as well.
