“The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3
The world sings about love that fails and grows cold, that turns away in time of trouble. But the song in our heart is about an everlasting love, one that never fails or changes with seasons and circumstances. It is a love that endures to the end.
This verse is referring to God’s love for the nation of Israel, but because of His sacrifice on Calvary, that love was extended to the whole world, and we can have that everlasting love abiding in our hearts today.
We are thankful for the love that Jews showed us by giving His life for us. The Scripture says there is no greater love than a man giving his life for a friend. His love in our hearts brings joy and peace, and manifests itself in our care and concern for others.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, fill our hearts today with your everlasting love and joy, and let it spill out to everyone we come in contact with.
