Updating-Do Not Power Down

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8, Holy Bible, King James Version)

My computer often goes into a blank screen mode with a message: “Updating-Do Not Power Down” whenever I’m receiving a program update. Until that download is complete, the message remains on the screen and nothing can be accomplished. When the update is finished, my machine is empowered to do more, better than the past.

On the Day of Pentecost, the Apostles and others were gathered in an upper room, awaiting the promise of Jesus. When it arrived, the Holy Spirit swept through that room. It fell on each of them. Everyone present was updated—empowered—to do more than the past, even perform miracles as we see in later chapters. Had they disassembled—unpowered—before that historic moment on Pentecost, there would have been no update. No miracles. Because they stayed powered up during the updating, they received the the Holy Ghost as promised.

Stay powered up for frequent updates from heaven that rejuvenate your soul.

Prayer: Lord, help me to stay connected to You so I can be updated when needed to be a better follower. Amen.
