Faith

perfect faith“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

It is interesting to note that the word “faith” only appears twice in the Old Testament, and yet the Old Testament is filled with stories of people who had a strong faith in God and saw many wonderful things happen because of their faith.  Hebrews 11 records a lot of these stories.

Romans 12:3 says that God has dealt to every man a measure of faith.  Jesus said that if we have faith the size of a grain of mustard seed, we could see mountains removed.  We are told in Romans 10 that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.  As we read and study His Word, and hear it preached, our faith is strengthened.

Our faith is also strengthened as we receive answers to prayers that we have prayed or hear testimonies of others.  When we see someone we have witnessed to, or encouraged along the way, growing in their faith, it causes our faith to grow as well.

Sometimes the Lord allows us to go through storms and rough times, but He is always there to give us strength to face them.  Our faith grows in these times, and we are able to help others who are facing similar circumstances.

Prayer:  Thank you Lord for your Word.  May we continue to grow in faith.
