“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies”. Proverbs 31:10
Rubies are valuable according to whether they are man-made or God-made and how perfected the workmanship on them is. And so perfect is the workmanship on the imitation that rarely can anyone but an expert detect the difference. But God cannot be deceived.
What makes a woman’s price above rubies? It is not only her ability as a homemaker but her spiritual life that counts, according to Prov. 31:30. It is her spiritual and practical devotion to God, which permeates every area and relationship of her life.
Star rubies are so-called because of the presence of a six-pointed star in the depths of the stone. The “Star” in the fully surrendered life can be only the flawless one which Christ has promised. “I will give him/her the Morning Star” “I, Jesus, am the Morning Star.” Rev. 2:28 and 22:16.
So the woman who lives each day, in reverence and worshipful fear of the Lord, is a life that is valued by God, her husband and her children, and will be called “blessed”.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, we desire that you would dwell in our hearts, and shine through us each and every day, making us a blessing to those around us.
