“And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.” Genesis 9:12-13
This has been a very hot summer in our area, and there were many days that it was too humid to go for a walk. On one evening when it had cooled down a bit, I went out walking. The sky seemed clear but all of a sudden a dark cloud rolled overhead and it began to rain. It was just a shower and actually felt good to feel the cool rain. It didn’t last very long, just a shower.
As I was crossing a parking lot on my way home, a car pulled in and a man got out and started taking pictures. I turned to see why he was doing so, and saw a beautiful rainbow. Not often do you see the whole bow, so I just stood there and looked for a few minutes, thanking the Lord for His blessings.
What a wonderful reminder of God’s love and His faithfulness. His promise to Noah was that He would never again destroy the earth by flood. When we see the rainbow in the sky, we are reminded that God always keeps His promises. We may face dark clouds and stormy days, but we know He is still in control and sends His rainbow to remind us that He will always care for us.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the storms you allow us to go though and for the rainbows you send to remind us of your love and your care for us.
