“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12, New King James Version)
The Word of God is more than a Bible in your hand; the Word is Jesus. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14, John 1:1).
The Word (Jesus) is like a fire that will stand with us in the heat of the battle and protect us as he did Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (Daniel Chapter 3, Jeremiah 23:29). When we have the Word of God IN us, than we can walk through difficult days and not be burned.
The Word of God is the “Sword of the Spirit” that pierces darkness and penetrates souls revealing thoughts and attitudes (Ephesians 6:17, Hebrews 4:12). The Word of God is God’s message to us; it’s the Good News of salvation (Luke 2:10-11). The Word of God will last forever, “Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89).
Prayer: Lord, I’m asking for a passionate love for your Word to grip me! John 15:7 says, “If ye abide in me, and MY WORDS abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” Teach me to love, revere and obey Your Word. It is a key to answered prayer!
