II Corinthians 8:12 “For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.”
In this chapter, Paul has been commending the Corinthian church for their willingness to share what they have with others. A collection has been taken to be distributed to believers elsewhere who are in need.
There were probably some of them who could contribute large amounts, while others not so much.
The Lord doesn’t expect us to give what we do not have. All He requires is a willing heart and mind, and that we share with others in proportion to what He has given us. This is true not only in money and material possessions, but also in the talents and abilities with which He has blessed us. As we willingly share with others, He blesses us in return.
Prayer: Lord, you have blessed us with so much, give us a willing heart to share those blessings with those around us.
