“And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.” (Mark 4:33-35, Holy Bible, King James Version)
“Blood is thicker than water,” is an old saying often used to mean that family ties are stronger than others. Jesus said there’s a stronger bond than blood relationships.
When Jesus’ mother and brothers and sisters came to where Jesus was teaching a large crowd, they couldn’t get close enough to speak to Him. When Jesus received the message that His family waited, Jesus looked around Him and proclaimed that all who do God’s will were His family.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for making room for all of us in Your kingdom so that race and ancestry are eradicated and we can all be part of the family of God. Amen.
