“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7 in the New King James Version of the Bible).
Today’s devotional verse describes the steps required to achieve peace in our lives. #1) Trust (in God) fuels thankgsgiving; and #2) Thanksgiving activates peace. The lesson is this – keep making your requests, but, whenever you feel anxious, take that as your cue to be thankful. Rather than expending your energy on worry, pour your heart out to God in thanksgiving. This will trigger the peace of God to flood your soul.
You can be thankful even when you still have prayers to be answered, if you fully trust that God is who He says He is and can do what He says He can do!
Prayer: Lord, I determine in my mind to be thankful. I will start today with a song of thanksgiving. I’m going to “Let the peace of God rule” (Colossians 3:15) in my heart. In Jesus Name, amen!
