“ Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof. Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following. For this God is our God forever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.” Psalm 48:12-14
Zion represents the church of the Lord Jesus Christ. This Scripture tells us that we need to spend time in prayer and in God’s Word, learning all we can about the Lord and His church.
The towers are the high places, the things that God has done for His people: how He led the children of Israel and revealed Himself to them; how he used the disciples to spread the Gospel after His death.
Her bulwarks are the means of defense: how the Lord has protected His people through the ages, and given them victory over their enemies.
The Palaces are the places of beauty: God’s love and care for those who follow Him; lives that have been changed because of Him.
Why do we need to learn about these things? Verse 13 tells us it is so we might be able to tell it to the generation following. It is our responsibility to pass our faith along to our children and their children.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us to learn everything we can about you and your plan for mankind, that we might pass our faith along to others, that they too may know you.
