“Do not remove the ancient landmark which your fathers have set,” (Proverbs 22:28 Holy Bible, New King James).
I like to read historical markers on car trips. They give me a sense of understanding of those who traveled there before me. When the Israelites left Egypt on their journey to their promised land, they often set markers where special victories were won and the land became their inheritance. Piles of stones marked places of achievements.
Later, when descendants wanted to change the boundaries of the land, the wise man insisted that the landmarks served a great purpose and were too important to be disturbed.
Prayer: Lord, strengthen me from readings about the ancient landmarks of victory so I can leave my own trail of faith for those who follow. Amen.
