A Hard Act to Follow

“Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid, don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.” (Joshua 1:9 in the Message.)
While reading in Joshua this morning, I could almost sense the apprehension that He was feeling. Moses had died and God was turning the reins of leadership over to him.  He felt the load shift to his shoulders.

A new leader has a hard act to follow, but, if God is in it, the work will go on.

God assured Joshua that just as He was with Moses, He would be with him every step of the way. And He was with Joshua just as He said. God always keeps His Word!

Prayer: Lord, the cycle of life happens to all of us. Leadership changes are inevitable. Give our new leaders strength to keep looking to You for direction. By doing so, You will be with them and give them strength to lead properly.
