For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:20, Holy Bible, New King James)
Mega Christian meetings aren’t new. They began with the New Testament Church in Jerusalem. Believers in distant locations heard about the joyous news of how God had blessed this church with multiplied numbers of people. Perhaps they may have wondered if numbers had relegated smaller congregations to second place.
Convention center. Amphitheater. Cathedral. Home church. They’re all the same. Matthew says two individuals worshiping Jesus together are equal to colossal standing-room-only gatherings. The key to God’s presence is not numbers. It’s purpose.
Prayer: Lord, I’m grateful for large congregations and the excitement of inspirational conferences. But there is nothing like the special touch of Your presence in small groups that worship Your name. Amen.
