Keeping the Temple Clean

Anne Jan. 2016 2“And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.”   Mark 11:17

In this story we see Jesus coming into the temple in Jerusalem and taking drastic action.  He looked at everything that was going on and then He cast out those who sold and bought.  He upset the tables of the money changers, and the seats of those that sold doves for sacrifices.

He did not care what they thought of Him, He realized how they had desecrated His Father’s House, and I am sure that righteous anger rose up within Him.

Today, our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and I am sure it makes Him sad when we allow things to contaminate our temples.  Envy, jealousy, pride and so many other things can enter and disappoint our Lord.  His Holy Spirit convicts us, and when we open our hearts to Him, He will cleanse us from all these things that defile and make us pure and clean.

Prayer:  Jesus, search out our hearts today, show us the things that defile and cleanse us with your precious blood.
