When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:13-16, Holy Bible, New King James)
Religious opinions about the man called Jesus who had come to Caesarea Philippi varied. Jesus polled His disciples. They responded that some believed He was a resurrected prophet. Then Jesus asked the important question: What do you say?
Peter didn’t hesitate. He took the question personally. He declared that Jesus was the Christ, the son of the living God. When rumors circulate about the deity of Jesus, make your declaration personal.
Prayer: Jesus, You are my Lord and My God. Amen.
