Waiting On God

prayingcrossThe son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfillment of his promise. (Galatians 4:23, NLT)

Abraham was promised a multitude of children. Not understanding how God could do this for him, Abraham made a human attempt to fulfill God’s promise.  Looking back it is easy for us to see that in time God did give Abraham that child that he had promised. How often do we try to pave our own path to accomplishing something that we believe God wants for us? In the quick paced world we live in, it is very hard for us to be still and wait for God to answer our prayers in His own time.  I know that I am guilty of this and I’m sure that I’m not alone here. To be told to “wait” is something that is really hard for us to hear.  If we try to do things our own way we will likely end up down a bumpy path that God never intended for us.

Prayer: God, I pray for patience today.  Nothing we plan on our own could ever come close to the plans you have for us.  In Jesus name, amen.
