Those who obey God in everything and always do what is right, whose words are true and sincere, and who do not slander others. They do no wrong to their friends nor spread rumors about their neighbors.(Psalm 15:2-3, GNT)
God requires a lot from His children. Psalm 15 tells us to obey, to do what is right, to be true, not to slander, not to spread rumors and so many more things about how to live righteously. Verses 2 & 3 stuck out to me because I know that it is all too easy to slip in this area. Everyone loves a good story. Whether you get caught up talking about stuff at work, at home or even in church we can very quickly and even unintentionally get ourselves involved spreading rumors that may or may not even be true. Minding our own business can be difficult, but it is something that God asks us to do so I think it’s definitely important to put forth our best effort.
Prayer: Lord, sometimes being the person to stand up and not be a part of rumor spreading can be so hard. Give us the courage we need to rise up against slandering others. Help us to do right when doing wrong can be so much easier. In Jesus name, amen.
