Singing – A Great Survival Tool

hymnal-468126_1920“O come, let us sing unto the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.”  (Psalm 95:1 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.)

This Psalm is without a title, but is attributed to David.  It is believed to have been composed during the time of captivity.

David knew what singing did for his heart.  Singing is a very important part of our worship to God.

Blues is a musical genre that originated in African-American communities in the “Deep South” of the United State around the end of the 19th Century.  It was started by former African slaves based on spirituals, praise songs and chants.  It helped them get through the day.  I have found that singing is one of the greatest survival tools!

We all have our favorite songs we resort to when we find our spirits lagging.  One of my favorite old songs is “Where Could I Go but to the Lord!”  The Lord is where we can always find the answer to whatever we are facing.

So come, join in, let’s sing and worship the Rock of our salvation!  Pull out a song and make a joyful noise to our Lord!
