“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)
Women tend to be emotional. This is how God designed us. He gave us His Word to help us deal with our emotions when they are running rampant.
Emotions are real and are meant to be expressed without hurting us or others. Try expressing them to God first. When we don’t let Him know how we feel, our reactions can result in disaster. If someone is violating you, talk to the One who can help you with what you are feeling.
When we fear we give fuel to worry. And when we worry it’s hard to see or hear God.
Paul was giving instructions in this verse to Timothy, a young man, so he would know what to do when he encountered foes or danger. He wanted him to be prepared and to inspire the courage needed to bear up under the worst case scenarios in life.
We must all recognize where fear comes from. It’s not from God. God gives power, love and a sound mind to those who place their trust in Him!
Prayer: Lord, help me to release my emotions and depend on You. Depending on You leads me to peace and freedom. You created me and are aware of the thoughts and intents of my heart. I can pour out my heart to You and know that You understand me.
