….whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things (Philippians 4:8, Holy Bible, New King James).
“Whatever” is an indifferent response to questions in today’s conversational environment. It’s tossed over a shoulder, or spoken with a back turned, implying indifference. Apostle Paul spoke “whatever” in a positive sense to highlight specific things worthy of long-term consideration.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, protect me from the “whatever” complacency. Help me to focus on things that are true, noble, pure, lovely, good, and commendable. Amen.
