“Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.” (Romans 13:7 Holy Bible New King James)
The framing of a Constitution for a new country in 1776 proclaimed that equality and religious freedom were the main goals. Founders of the Constitution, rebels with a cause, left their native lands to flee government-imposed religion. They purposed to live in freedom where God could be openly discussed in marketplaces, schools, and public areas.
Now, more than two centuries later, the pendulum swings the opposite direction, forbidding religious expression in the places our leaders established. Modern America, be proud of those men who gave us such a noble beginning. As these freedoms are being eroded, follow in their footsteps proclaiming we are free.
Prayer: Eternal God, I give thanks to You today and honor all the brave people in history, not just those in the United States, who stood for religious freedom. I pray for Christian leaders to arise in the governments, marketplaces, communities, schools, and homes. Give them the grace to proclaim that You are our only hope for freedom. Amen.
