“And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?” Genesis 3:9
When God asks someone a question, it’s obviously not because He does not know the answer. So why did God ask Adam where he was hiding in the Garden of Eden?
God wanted Adam to think about where he was. Why was he hiding from the One with whom he had sweet fellowship with every day? What had fractured their relationship? The truth is that Adam couldn’t bring himself to face God after having disobeyed His command to not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Sometimes we let disobedience come between us and God, and we hide ourselves in different ways. Immersed in pleasure or in busyness… God wants to know: “Where are you?”
Prayer: Lord, I don’t want anything to come between us or hinder our relationship. Help me to always be conscious of “where I am” in my walk with You.
