“Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?” (Romans 15:2 in The Message.)
While reading the scriptures this morning, this is one scripture that got my attention. The church at Rome apparently needed to be reminded that the strength they had received from God was for service, not status. No badge of honor is given just to show our status; rather God gives us strength in Him to serve those who are weak and need our help.
Dealing with people is not always easy. Everyone deserves to go through the growing up process. We were not born running. First we learned to crawl; then walk; and eventually we could balance ourselves and run. We should never cease to learn.
If you sincerely want to serve the weaker ones; ask them “How can I help?” Give them time. The Word and His Spirit will do the work.
Prayer: Lord, give me patience in dealing with others. Remind me of Your continuing love and patience to help me grow-up in You.
