“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation” 1 Peter 1:15
Inferior fuel can cause a car to break down, because it was designed for a higher grade. In the same manner, our holy God designed us to thrive on pure and holy conversation. Conversation that does not meet those standards will drag us down.
Gossip can be addictive. Our ears perk up when we hear someone say “Did you know… did you hear?” Everyone wants to be aware of what is going on around them. But we have to remember that those who will gossip to us will also gossip about us.
Let’s make good choices about what kind of conversation we will listen to and participate in. God is pleased when we encourage others and build them up.
Prayer: Lord, give me wisdom today regarding the conversations I am involved in. Give me discernment to know when I should redirect others to another subject, or simply walk away. Let my words be holy like You are holy.
