“But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.” Luke 1:13
Zacharias was praying for a baby, so he was probably rather startled when an angel appeared. That was not what he was asking for! But the angel was there to tell him that his prayer was going to be answered.
Angels must be huge and awe-inspiring, because their appearance in the Bible is usually accompanied by a reassurance to the person viewing them to “Fear not”.
From this story we can learn that we do not need to fear how God answers our prayer. It may not be exactly the way we pictured it, and that’s probably good, because God knows best. He will send the right answer the right way at the right time…so fear not!
Prayer: Lord, no matter how big my prayer request is or how long I have been interceding for it, I know that You will answer in Your perfect timing. I will not fear!
