I Can Do It Myself

“I am the vine, ye are the branches:  He that abideth in me, and I in him the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing.”  (John 15:6 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.)

The defiant child looks at his mother and says, “I can do it myself.”  As adults we often independently say the same thing; if not in word, in deed.

Jesus sets us straight by letting us know that without Him we can do nothing.  Our capabilities are shown only when we abide in Him.

Prayer:  Lord, today I am once again reminded of how much I need You.  You are my source of strength.  Rid me of that fierce independent spirit that tries to take over in my life.  I need You every minute of every day.  I need You to survive.  Amen!
