“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” Matthew 5:7
Merciful: full of mercy, compassionate… are we really blessed when we are being a blessing to someone else? Yes, if we are allowing God’s love and mercy to flow through us – it is so fulfilling to know we have helped and encouraged someone else.
And if we are merciful to others, we can obtain God’s mercy. And oh how we need it, especially some days! Whether we let our carnal nature get the best of us, or we just find ourselves in a situation beyond our control, we need to have access to the mercy of God.
Who can we be merciful today? Someone in our home, in the neighborhood or at work? Instead of getting frustrated and impatient with someone who delays or annoys us, we can choose to show mercy. And we will be so blessed!
Prayer: Lord, I am so aware that I need Your mercy every day. Help me to be merciful to others, to be a blessing to them.
