“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:3-4
Poor in spirit… mourning… are we really blessed in the middle of such trials? Yes, it is possible, if we keep our eyes focused on heavenly things and on God’s timeline.
When your human spirit feels down and depressed, in “poor” health, think about how blessed you are to be part of the kingdom of heaven: to be saved and to be involved in advancing God’s kingdom on earth. And let Him wrap His comforting arms around you.
And if that isn’t enough of a pick-me-up, dream about the joy you will have when God takes you home to His eternal Kingdom of heaven. The problems of life here on earth will seem so small and insignificant when we are surrounded by His glory 24/7. We will be so blessed!
Prayer: Lord, this might be a “down” day, but I am so blessed to be part of Your kingdom. And I can hardly wait for the day when I get to join you in heaven and be in Your presence forever.
