Continue in the Word

Continue-Word“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed” John 8:31

Of the various things the Bible tells us to continue in, this is one of the most important. We need to continue in the Word of God.

How do we do that? It starts with a daily habit of reading the Bible. Just like vitamins work in regular doses, a consistent time of Bible reading and study will ensure that we have spiritual energy when we need it.

Beyond just reading the Word, we need to meditate on it and delight in it (Psalm 1:2). Don’t let New Age philosophy steal that valuable word from your vocabulary. The original meaning of meditation is “to engage in thought or contemplation, to reflect”. What better to think about, contemplate or reflect on than God’s Word? Let’s continue in the Word!

Prayer: Lord, help me to set aside a daily time to read and study the Bible. It is my source of strength.  Help me to continue in Your Word.
