Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30, ESV)
I’ve yet to get married and have children, but I do know a thing or two about being busy. Money has a tendency to speak to me, and I have somehow managed to become a bit of a workaholic. The unfortunate thing about being so busy is that I also find myself terribly exhausted most of the time. I vowed to make 2015 a year of balance and I have to say that I am off to a terrible start.
I am thankful that the Lord asks us to come to him and he will give us rest. I am taking today to reflect on the rest that I can find in him, and I encourage each of you to do the same. Take some time for yourself today!
Prayer: Lord I pray for the wisdom to know when I have taken on too much. Help me to say no when asked to do things that I really do not feel led to do. I pray that you will help us to discern between what you want us to do and what we do out of obligation. In Jesus name, amen.
