“And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.” Luke 2:33
Joseph was right by Mary’s side throughout all the events of Jesus’ birth and early life. His reaction to the prophecies spoken by Simeon over Jesus was to marvel at them. The word “marvel” implies amazement and joy. Joseph must have felt privileged at being called to participate in the life of Jesus.
That’s the kind of attitude we should have towards our relationship with God. It is so amazing that He has chosen us to be one of His children. It is cause for great joy!
Regardless of the area in which He has called us to serve, let’s do it with joy, just like Joseph did. Whether cleaning the church, teaching children or adults, ministering in music, or participating in the myriad of tasks it takes to run a church, may joy permeate everything we do.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for making a place of service and ministry in Your kingdom. Help me to serve with joy.
