God with Us

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:23 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible.)

I stared in the tiny casket holding a two-week-old baby. The mother stood weeping as her husband held her close.
December has taken on a new meaning for the Forrest family. It will no longer be viewed as a happy holiday season for them. Losing this little angel will keep them from enjoying Christmas as they normally would as grief takes its toll.
Our Scripture text is taken from Isaiah 7:14. Isaiah was a prophet who prophesied the birth of our Lord. He was inspired to encourage Ahaz who ruled the kingdom of Judah. He commanded Ahaz to ask a sign or miracle to fulfill the predictions of victory as related in this passage.

Emmanuel literally means, THE STRONG GOD WITH US! I’m so glad He came.  He is still God with us.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for coming to us and being our STRONG GOD. When things happen that we cannot understand, You come along side of us and give strength to go on. Please comfort the Forrest family and those who are hurting at this time of year. Amen!
