“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love.” (Ephesians 3:17 in the King James Version of the Holy Bible)
We have many trees in our yard that need to be cut down. The roots from these trees are affecting the septic tank that serves our house.
I have noticed the stronger the root is the harder it is to pull up. A professional will need to uproot the trees in our yard – a shovel won’t do! They are firmly established with roots that run deep and extend afar.
When writing to the church at Ephesus in our devotional verse, the Apostle Paul wanted them to make sure they had a good root system. A firm foundation. He wanted them to be as firm in the love of Christ as a building that rests on a solid foundation. Love is the basic principle of true religion and the apostle wanted them to be settled in it.
I ask you today, “What does your root system look like?”
Prayer: I sing to You Lord, “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.” Amen and Amen!
