My pleasure or God’s will?

pleasure“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:” 1 Thessalonians 4:3

Not so long ago, our society had a solid moral foundation which was reflected in the laws of the land. But in recent years, biblical principles are being cast aside with alarming frequency. The new standard for deciding if something is good or bad is based on whether it brings you pleasure or not.

This trend is frightening, because often what brings someone pleasure can devastate another person. The pleasure mentality is incredibly selfish and short-sighted.

God’s will is that we be holy, not that we pursue pleasure. And with that type of commitment comes a lasting joy and peace that could never be obtained from giving in to our fleshly lusts. Let’s seek the will of God!

Prayer: Lord, let me not selfishly seek my own pleasure, but let me seek Your will today and every day.
