“And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” Matthew 6:28-29
I have nothing to wear! Really? Usually that just means we have nothing clean, that fits well, or that suits our mood for the day. Many of us have more clothes than we know what to do with. We could give half of them away and still have a different outfit to wear each day for a couple weeks or more…
How can we be content with our wardrobe? Obviously, we are not going to say we will never buy clothes again… things wear out, shrink, etc. (or we grow!). But as we mentioned with food yesterday… is our spending on clothes proportionate to our income?
Don’t give in to peer pressure to spend a fortune on clothes to impress people. Let’s wear clean, modest and attractive clothes… and be content with that.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for what is in my closet. Help me to be content with the wardrobe that I can afford, and to always glorify You in my clothing choices.
