“Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” Philippians 4:11
Over the last few days, we have been exploring various ways that God speaks to us. One often overlooked way is through our circumstances.
In the verse above, we see that over a period of time, Paul had learned to accept His circumstances, rather than chafing at them. And He suffered many things far worse than we have to deal with!
If you want something badly but the doors are slammed shut, pray for spiritual discernment to know whether God is testing your resolve or if He is redirecting you. There is a time for persistence (when God says keep pressing forward), but there is also a time for acceptance (when God closes a door).
Prayer: Lord, let me have open ears when You try to speak to me through my circumstances. Help me to be sensitive to Your direction.
