When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:1-4, Holy Bible New King James)
Today is Pentecost Sunday, so I used these Scriptures and others when I spoke to a group of assisted living residents this morning. Not until this afternoon did I realize that my research into Old Testament events, such as counting the fifty days from Passover to Pentecost, was so intriguing, I forgot to post today’s blog.
Now that the Day of Pentecost is drawing to a close, I’m glad the Holy Spirit is available every day, not limited to Pentecost Sunday.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for this observance of Pentecost. What a great gift You have given us with a year-round celebration. Amen.
